Jackie O Jackie ..

Wow ..

I can't believe this is happening in 2011 .. Just days before Christmas ..

The well-respected Dutch fashion magazine Jackie made a huge foul last week. In their January issue there is a fashion feature with quite a disturbing race related title. The editor-in-chief called it a bad joke. What made this "joke" raise international fame, was that singer Rihanna was linked to the title as the main example of this "fashion expression". Now, you know when it's about Rihanna and it's bad .. EVERYBODY's on it:

Niggabitch .. yup, you read it right!
Look for the definition at the Urban Dictionary

Now, for my readers who are not from the Lowlands, I have the english translation of the article right here! All thanks goes to Theybf.com:

They’ve got street cred, they’ve got a ghetto ass, and they can sing well. Rihanna, the good girl gone bad, is the ultimate niggabitch and loves to carry herself as such which in her case means; dressing half-naked. Unfortunately, Dutch winters are nothing like Jamaican winters so choose a style that will allow you to withstand the harsh weather conditions. No oversized sunglasses and porn heels but leopard print, pink ‘’shizzle’’ and everything else that shines.

Sidenote: To add insult to injury, Rihanna is from Barbados and not Jamaica. If you set her as a main example of anything, try to get your facts right, people!!
I'm not a Rihanna fan, but I truely understand her rage towards Jackie Magazine.

Ok, so people might wonder if I associated myself to the word NiggaBitch? "Because you're sure making a post out of it!"
No, I don't, but I do love pink, bling and tigerprints. Oh, and I am a black woman!

The reason why I blog about this worldnews is that I've been doing a lot of research this morning and there has been alot of mixed arguments. Some say that it's "Totally unexceptable and degrading against the human- and foremost, black race", while others say " Well, they (they being black people) say it to each other all the time, why not say it out in the open anyway? It's just a joke."

Really? ok .. Ha Ha Ha .. nah, I truely can't laugh about it. Now, I don't know if the author of this small article is black, white, asian or purple persuasion, this is NOT something you publish in a well-respected fashion magazine. Especially a fashion magazine that is dedicated to women of ALL races! And eventhough black people do call each other "Nigga" when being together, the key sentence is calling each other nigga .. when being TO-GE-THER. Meaning, no other race is harmed or involved in this type of "name calling". It could be in a greeting sentence "Whaddup my nigga?" or a disbelieving sentence "Nigga Please?!" or even in an encouraging sentence "That's my nigga right there!!". Not to say that it is right or wrong. Either way, it's there, it's happening and it will never leave the borders of the BLACK community. If it does, then this sort of thing will happen: scrutiny, ridicules, riots and even beatdowns ..

Now don't kill the messenger .. I can't stop it and as far as I know, people won't stop saying it! Even Oprah wanted the word gone. Wasn't that why she lectured Ludacris that time, when the whole Crash cast was present at her show? Lecture, smecture! She can't stop it!
Not even with all her billons ..
Some black people agree or disagree about removing the word nigga from their vocabulary .. but that's a whoooole 'nother case .. Still I wonder: (Especially for those who do use the word) Does that mean that black people have to except the fact that these jokes will get a "green card" in print, because it's said anyway?

I think not .. what do you think??

Oh, and to put even more salt on big and open wounds, The News just spread that the editor-in-chief quite her job, due to this whole "niggabitch" catastrophe hmmm ..

Any comments?

  1. I dó think it definitely wasn't appropriate. but it's sorta ironic that those people that use "nigga" the most, end up starting riots about other people using the world. like huh? I'm confusedddd. so you cán use the word "nigga" in all your songs, but you end up getting mad if somebody actually uses it in a magazine? like, how contradicting could it get?
